These sure are great stories. I've added a little note at the end because I'd like to see more.
Gives me some insight to who you people are.
Everything seems so great. What went wrong?
I contribute to a topic on Brantley's forum when I was one of a few who really helped get the forum rocking, WELL BEFORE Matt and Roger showed up.
Check out the post dates to see how long between responses when the topic was first posted by Hanthx. Periodically I would respond to the topic and bring the topic back to page one. That's how a real forum works. Old topics get responded to which brings them back to page one, and all the newer members get treated to several responses at all at once because the responses were generated over the previous year.
One thing that is interesting to note is eventually my bringing the topic back to page one occured until Roger and Matt became members of the forum.
Notice who wrote the two stories that created the most grief for innocent bystanders in their stories...
Super-8 Stories

Lots and lots of topic posts went great on Brantley's forum BEFORE Matt and Roger arrived. But as you have noticed from Matt's response posts, Matt Bends things way out of shape, and then Roger comes to his aid.
Roger and Matt weren't around until the Super-8 Stories topic post was over 6 months old. So the topic got off to a great round of civility BEFORE Roger and Matt ever showed up, as did virtually every post on Brantley's forum BEFORE Roger and Matt arrived.
Check it out, any topic before July of 2001 is peaceful and full of good advice and people trying to help people, Once Roger joined, and combined with Matt, the Brantley forum was never the same, and now it limps along.
Throw in that I pissed off Chas on the following post
Alex's good advice turns Chas Against Alex
and that that was around the time that Matt and Roger started posting on Brantley's forum, and the three amigos were born. Any time any one of the three amigos could respond in a hostile manner to a post of mine, they did, and if I responded, one of the other two would chime in and then begin accusing me of all kinds of ridiculous things.
Three of them, one of me, so it "looked" like I was always involved in any forum wars. The real problems were three posters who get angry, and never cool off, even now, two years later!!!
I think I gave a lot great advice on Chas's topic, and even if I pissed him off, did it warrant being pissed off at me forever?
<font size="2" face="verdana, sans-serif">Yes, and then you became a raging A-Hole, because Roger and I knew about 50 times more than you will ever know, so you became jealous, threw constant temper-tantrums, and got yourself kicked off.Originally posted by Alex:

Matt
Gosh Matt, every post you make on here sounds like a
tantrum. If you and Roger did know 50 times more than me, then you should have been gracious, rather than hostile.

Oh yeah, speaking of honesty: Why gave you the right to interfere with Matt Pacini's auction?
Roger, your smug, self-righteous attitude has done nothing but shine bright with practically every post you have made on this forum.
Should we expect anything less from a witch-hunter?
<font size="2" face="verdana, sans-serif">The difference is that witches don't exist. However, people that intefere in ebay auctions do exist.Originally posted by Alex:

Well, I guess that's the difference between a "rational" mind and an "Alex-mind." In the original post, I was soliciting ALEX GREGG, the English chap, and former hostboard member who was visiting the US for a few days (I notice he didn't seem to want to hang out with you when he was in L.A....I wonder why that could be?)
This is why I got irritated with you -- you had to butt in and give your 2 cents worth (clearly that's all any of your advice is ever worth)... I'll leave it up to any of you other folk to read for yourself Alex' arrogant, condescending and trite responses.
And...uh, oh yeah...why DID YOU interfere with Matt Pacini's auction, by the way?
best,
Chas
I don't really follow your reasoning. You put a post on the forum, I gave a divergent view from the self-employed's viewpoint.
Instead of welcoming the additional viewpoint, you took it in the most negative way possible. That IS a trait you, Matt and Roger share, and lot of good discussion was lost because of it.
Brantley's forum only grew when I was a part of it, after I left, it stayed stable for a while, then dropped quickly.
